EHS policy

The Director and Managers of Crumpled Dog recognise the social and economic importance of protecting the environment and are fully committed to complying with the requirements of the Environmental Protection Act 1990. http://www.opsi.gov.uk

To support the stated commitment, it is management policy to integrate environmental considerations into the business decision making process.

In order to maintain and sustain the Company’s Environmental Policy,
it is necessary that every reasonably practicable means be used to:

  • Commit to continuous improvement.
  • Education and train of employees in environmental issues and
the environmental effects of their activities.
  • Comply with the laws relating to the protection of the environment and
    where practicable exceed these requirements.
  • Achieve good environmental standards in all activities including the reduction, re-use, recycling and disposal of waste; endevour to create a paper free environment, through the use of digital media alternatives, wherever possible, and the reuse of consumables before eventual recycling.
  • Ensure the prevention of pollution and the continual improvement of environmental performance targets.
  • Assess regularly the environmental impact resulting from business operations and to remain fully informed of recognised best practices.
  • Communicate this policy to all interested parties including company customers, suppliers and employees and encourage their active involvement in environmental issues.
  • Transport: record, measure and improve.
  • Use timber and paper from sustainable (managed) forests.
  • Phase out of CFCs and ozone-depleting substances in the work environment.
  • Make economic use of energy, water and other materials to minimise waste in all aspects of the business function - boil a cup, switch off a light, recycle wherever possible etc...

Due to the digital nature of our business, Crumpled Dog does not consume vast tracks of open countryside. However, we inevitably send a lot of our work to the print industry and this is an area where we are committed to ensuring that, wherever possible, the suppliers we use have an extensive EMS policy, relevant certifications, adhere to ISO 140001 and source their stock from FSC certified sources. If we have an exisiting relationship with a supplier that does not conform to these stipulations we will encourage ther company to embrace them and we will aid them, where we can, in achieving this.

The Crumpled Dog Directors has the overall and final responsibility for the Environmental Policy with the Operation Manager responsible for the co-ordination, implementation and monitoring and recording of the policy throughout the organisation and ensuring that the policy is reviewed annually.

Management throughout the organisation are responsible for the communication of the policy and promoting active participation at all levels, whilst ensuring that activities under their control conform to the legal requirements and that good environmental standards are achieved and maintained.

Employees have the responsibility to actively support the company to ensure the effective implementation and maintenance of the policy.
